I’m looking forward to today’s event which is taking place at The Melting Pot from 10am onwards.

I think it is a good idea to incorporate people’s tweets about the event as it happens, so I have set up a Cover it Live event which will import relevant tweets.

For those interested the hashtag is #scotweb2. If I get the chance, I will also update the @Scotweb2 Twitter account from time to time. The CiL panel will also import any tweets from our personal accounts, @doctorvee and @alexstobart.

Due to the increasingly unreliable nature of Feedburner’s service, I have decided to revert back to the WordPress system. Feedburner has failed to update all five of my RSS feeds for over two weeks now.

Unfortunately, this means that you will have to re-subscribe to the RSS feed. Sorry for the hassle this causes. This has been a complete pain in the neck, but sadly it is the only option. It is either that or stay with the current one which doesn’t seem to be updating.

The Feedburner feed will redirect to the new address, but it will self-destruct in 30 days.

I have built a custom search engine which will allow you to search Scottish government websites.

I built it using Google Custom Search Engine, which is a pretty nifty tool that lets you create a search engine that produces results from a selected set of websites. Dave Briggs suggested this following the success of LGSearch, which searches government websites in the UK.

At the moment Scotweb2 Search includes the websites of the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament, the Scotland Office and the 32 local councils in Scotland. In time, I plan to extend it so that it includes other Scottish public sector organisations. If you have any suggestions for the sort of websites that should be included, please feel free to leave a comment on this post or send us an email.

Scotweb2 Search

After some downtime over the winter break, we are looking to get things up and running on the Scotweb2 blog again.

If you have any ideas, interesting developments or news in the realm of web 2.0 as it is used in Scotland, you can get in touch by emailing us at scotweb2@gmail.com. Better still, if you would like to contribute to the blog yourself, get in touch using the same email address and I can set you up with an account.

In the meantime, I will begin to pop up occasionally to point out anything interesting I notice, beginning with a look at some interesting uses of Twitter and Flickr this week.

Welcome to the web presence of Scotweb2. The first Scotweb2 event was in October 2008 and it was a great success. We have set up this blog to maintain the momentum for the future.
